Why are we waiting?!

Delays delays, before we even begin!  Thankfully it hasn't been because of a building problem, but rather a bank problem - and the snail pace at which they operate!  Thanks to some very poor form by Westpac - despite being a day one customer - our entire plan came slightly unraveled for a while there, forcing us to take our business elsewhere.  Which bank? ... yes, that one :)

We are so pleased to report that we are now back on track.  It's finally action stations at Alsop!

Here's Rami standing in front of where the pool is about to go...

Our lovely rear neighbour David has had to put up with a temporary tin fence - made by Muz and Waz - for a lot longer than anticipated.  No doubt he's looking forward to having his privacy back when the brick wall goes up after the pool.  Promise, only a few more weeks Dave.  Poor guy!

Buy, Buy Mullaloo!

If only someone would!!!  That's what we've been wishing for, for the past four months.  It seemed like an eternity.  We almost went mad doing home open after home open, cleaning, weeding, handpicking leaves out of mulch one by one, sweeping, loading up our cars every weekend, interior decorating ... the nightmare seemed like it would never end!

Thankfully it did, with a young English couple putting in our one and only offer.  It was a cash offer with a quick settlement, so we didn't hesitate to accept and begin celebrating!

We moved out of Mullaloo on Saturday, May 5, and moved into Mum and Waz's gorgeous old Trigg house.  We are so glad to move forward, as the past few months have been some of the most stressful we have ever experienced!

BYE BYE MULLALOO!!!  We loved you, but happy to leave you...

Down they go...

The duplexes are down!  It's amazing how quickly all those bricks and timbers can be completely destroyed.  It was all over in a couple of days!

Down falls 1B.
 ... and 1A.

Check out the vision!

Here's Muzza today.  Proud as punch!  The other two shots show a pan around the whole block.  The rear neighbour's fence that's down is the side where the pool will be going.  We had to take that fence down for the pool to go in first, before work on the house starts.

Demolition Eve

Both properties have been well and truly stripped.  Friends, family and neighbours have all salvaged things - from pergolas, slabs, window frames and gates, to plants, timber and even nails.  Almost everything except Muzza's dodgy old oven in 1A.

"Mmmm, this should be delicious..."

Ryan and Rami in what's left of the backyard at 1B.

View from the backyard of 1A.

Demolition starts tomorrow!

Welcome to 'Club Carine'...

Welcome to Club Carine :) and the story about our building project.  We've decided a blog would be a good way to record what happens along the way - so we remember! - and to share it with you, our friends and family.  Thanks Linda, for the idea!

We're getting more and more excited (and nervous) about what's to come.  After more than 18 months of planning and deliberating over the design and the whole concept of building, we think we're ready.  The demolition of Murray's two old duplexes is only about a week away, so we'd better be!

This could be the last time he locks the door at 1A!  Let the fun and games begin...
